GeckoTek started in 2014 with a stubborn idea: the hardest part of desktop 3D printing shouldn’t be getting the first layer to stick. Two engineers, a garage, and about 200 failed formulas later, EZ-Stik was born — and it’s been keeping makers printing ever since.

2014 · The garage
Founded by Brad Ruff & Aniket Vyas
Fresh out of graduate school and low on funds, the founders spent everything they had developing a better build surface. The first Kickstarter — run out of a garage — raised over $59,000 from makers who were just as fed up with warped first layers.
2014–2016 · 1,000 hours
200 formulas to find the one
After roughly a thousand hours of testing and 200 formulations, GeckoTek dialed in the balance that still defines the product: aggressive grip while the bed is hot, clean release the moment it cools. Scientifically formulated, not trial-and-error at your desk.
2017 · EZ-Stik
The peel-and-stick surface launches
A second Kickstarter introduced EZ-Stik: a trimmable, self-adhesive sheet that fits any printer ever made. Cut it to size with scissors and print up to 100 times. The maker press took notice.
